RENOVATION OF THREE FACADES

rue centrale – lausanne

Renovation of the facades of 3 adjoining buildings housing the C&A store and forming a single entity.

The exceptional location in the heart of Lausanne gives this transformation great architectural importance.

The project envisages different interventions on each building. Even if the floors meet to form a large area, it is important to distinguish the three buildings which have a very different history and era of construction.

Acknowledging building history by reinterpreting existing facade elements and providing them with a contemporary architectural language is the starting point. The nobility of natural stone cladding is incorporated.

The overall composition is aimed at bringing verticality, depth and grandeur to the building. According to this principle the ground and first floor façades are merged, in order to provide height and importance to the entrance, while blending in with the buildings that characterize these streets.
