EXTENSION OF A MEDICAL AND SOCIAL INSTITUTION
retirement home – chexbres – 5th prize
This project is located in the middle of the Lavaux vineyards in Chexbres; its existing premises are being extended. The inspiration for the project on this steep slope comes from one of the site’s natural stone retaining walls.
The new and existing buildings are linked at level 2, which will become the new central level.This floor links the various care units that are distributed on different levels. All of the retirement home’s community life is concentrated here and extends to the outside on a landscaped terrace, which has exceptional views of the lake.
A new core descends into the extension, accompanied by a patio, open on two floors, bringing light to all living spaces. Thanks to this linear setting against the slope, all rooms have a panoramic view.
