malley ice rink – lausanne
The public areas of this sports complex are part of Malley’s new cultural axis. The main entrance of the complex and its shops add life to this artery of the city. The complex itself is a compact unit traversed by a strong axis that connects all building parts.
This implementation logic is also reflected in the distribution of the different types of use, their structure and materialisation.
The complex’s spine allows for managing the phasing of the project in two stages of construction.
A ‘ribbon’ moves around the setting in a fluid way in order to arrange or free up spaces and define the façade. This envelope makes it possible to unify the building complex with its varied openings and provides a lively diurnal/nocturnal atmosphere.
The entire building is designed to minimise its impact and carefully integrate it into the existing assemblage of buildings in the surrounding area.
