montagne 136 – chêne-bougeries
Montagne 136 is a mixed-use residential architecture project located on Chemin de la Montagne, in the municipality of Chêne-Bougeries, Geneva. The development combines housing, office spaces and local retail within a clear architectural structure, carefully integrated into its urban and landscape context.
The complex includes 72 residential units distributed across six levels. Office spaces are located on the first floor, while neighbourhood retail occupies the ground floor. A large commercial area is positioned on the lower ground level, complemented by two underground parking floors serving the entire site.
The architectural concept is based on three interlocking volumes with triangular and trapezoidal footprints. The spaces created between the buildings become visual openings, generating depth and long perspectives towards the surrounding park and neighbouring residential blocks.
This volumetric arrangement allows the buildings to be optimally oriented. Each apartment benefits from open views and favourable daylight conditions. Residential typologies are designed with triple orientation, significantly enhancing spatial quality and indoor comfort.
Living areas are organised around a central polyform core. Its articulated geometry structures the different functions of the apartments and ensures clear, efficient layouts. The generous dimensions and balanced organisation of the dwellings provide a high degree of flexibility, supporting diverse living patterns and a mix of residents.
The façade design seeks to unify the variety of programmes and housing typologies through a consistent architectural language. Mullions, slabs, frames and voids form a shared composition that gives coherence to the ensemble. A second layer of perception emerges through light and reflections, revealing smooth, sandblasted and glossy surfaces that enrich the architectural expression.
Through its careful massing, flexible layouts and refined materiality, Montagne 136 represents a contemporary approach to mixed-use residential architecture, balancing urban density, quality of life and architectural clarity.
